Meet Ismael

Meet Ismael

For Ismael, he watched his father abuse his mother, in front of his siblings.  Thankfully, they are safe away from that today, but Ismael still remembers the impact of those fights. He credits the Parsons Club and the Professional Youth Development team with helping him learn to trust again.  He’s breaking the cycle of violence.  He’s helping out other kids in the Club now and helping add light to their world.

Meet Adam

Meet Adam

Growing up in Tanzania, Adam and his family lived in a country destroyed by civil war. The danger and violence they experienced is a stark contrast to their lives here. This family resettled in Phoenix and today, Adam is thriving in school and at the Club. His inspiring story will show you how your investment in our Club kids is paying off for those who need us most!

Meet Khalid

Meet Khalid

Sometime the Club is more than just a place for kids to do homework and play sports. It’s their second family, the place where they know they have other adults who care about them.

Khalid lost his mother at a young age, and he believes that his Club fills a void in his young life. More than just a time for play, the Club offers Khalid social and emotional support and is helping him develop resiliency as he meets challenges in his life. These are critical life skills for any young person, but particularly one who has lost so much at a young age.

The Youth Development Professionals at the Rosenzweig Branch are inspiring him to dream big for his future. A teacher, a firefighter or a doctor. Young Khalid is exploring all of these possibilities in his time at the Boys & Girls Club.

Without you, we cannot continue to provide the high quality care, delivered by trained professional staff, in our Clubs. Please help us continue to support thousands of youth just like Khalid with your investment.

Meet Kashmere

Meet Kashmere - Bob & Renee Parsons Branch

Kashmere is a 6th grade student at Tillman Middle School and a member of the Bob & Renee Parsons Branch. There are some kids who have a spirit about them and Kashmere is one of those kids. She’s a light at the Parsons Branch, where she’s been a member for six years. Here’s what Kashmere says about her Club, “When I grow up I’d like to work for the Boys & Girls Club. I love the Staff and other kids and it makes me happy to go to the Club after school! I enjoying dancing, Torch Club and Leadership. I believe if you want something you should never give up until you get it.”

Meet Sean

Meet Sean - Bob & Renee Parsons Branch

Sean joined the Parsons Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix when they opened their Blue Doors three years ago. This year, he was selected as the Kid of the Year from his branch because of his character and his commitment to the Torch Club.  You’ll see in Sean’s video how the Club is more than just a place to go after school.

Without YOU, Sean wouldn’t be able to enjoy all of the benefits of the Parsons Club. More than 1,500 youth participated in programs at that one Club and they served more than 31,000 hot dinners to the members.

Thanks to YOU, 10,000+ kids just like Sean enjoy our 13 Clubs every day after school!

In preparation for the annual Stars Gala, we will be sharing some of the powerful stories of our kids, and how their Club is making a major impact on their lives and their families. You’ll meet kids of all ages who rely on the BGCMP Youth Development Professionals as the trusted adults in their lives, who care about them and ensure they are safe, healthy and happy!
