About Our Clinic - Affordable Care

Recognizing a need for low-cost community dental care, the Dental Clinic was constructed in 1997 and opened its doors to patients in 1998. It was renamed the Bob & Renee Parsons Dental Clinic in November 2013.

The Clinic is a full-service facility that provides services for children 5-18 who lack dental insurance and do not qualify for state assistance. Some of the services available include comprehensive oral exams, x-rays, sealants, fillings, extractions, root canals, and emergency surgery.

Proper dental care is necessary for childhood development. If left untreated, minor dental problems can cause serious health issues including pain and suffering; difficulty in speaking, chewing and swallowing; infection, and health complications due to poor nutrition. In addition to health risks, inadequate dental care can also affect a child's educational and social development. In fact, in Arizona, oral health issues are the leading cause of missed school days. Call the clinic today to set up an appointment for your children.

Youth Served

Located at the I.G. Homes Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix, the Bob & Renee Parsons Dental Clinic was created to provide high-quality, low-cost dental care to economically disadvantaged children ages 5-18 who do not qualify for dental insurance. Children in need of our services are often referred by nurses in public and charter schools.

Our Dental Clinic also serves children living in foster care, group homes, detention facilities and homeless shelters. Each year, more than 800 children are served at the clinic, accounting for more than 14,000 treatments. In addition, the Dental Clinic offers more than 1,000 free screenings during the school year.

“I’m a single parent of 3 girls that are members of the IG Homes Club. My daughter had a bad tooth, and needed a root canal. She got excellent treatment at the Bob & Renee Parsons Dental Clinic at a very affordable cost and I can have all my kids get treatment here. Our family really needed this. The community needs to know about these services!"

The Need for our Dental Clinic

A 2015 survey by the Arizona Department of Health Services indicated more than half of Arizona’s kindergarten children (52%) have a history of tooth decay, which is higher than the national average for five year-old children (36%). In addition, the survey reported 64% of third grade children in Arizona have a history of tooth decay, compared to 52% of third grade children in the general U.S. population.

Left untreated, childhood tooth decay can have devastating consequences that extend beyond the dental chair. Rampant decay can negatively impact a child’s overall quality of life, inhibit their cognitive and social development and compromise their growth, self-esteem and ability to succeed in school.
